The Foodnorgraphy.

The Foodnorgraphy.

(Food + *you know the word..*)

The quest for the perfect spaghetti started 4 years back when I was in Xiamen, China visiting my sister and Matt, the producers that brought you my cutest nephew “Eric the Playful & Grumpy Conman”.

We were at this restaurant very close to the University of Xiamen by the name of “Black Sugar”. I ordered the spaghetti seafood marinara (cream-based) as recommended by Karen and it was then when I fell in love with the taste of spaghetti. I’ve never came across something that good and the dish was simply fantabulous. *mmmmmmmmmm…*

Ever since then, I’ve been trying out spaghetti in restaurants all over Penang (for now) and occasionally finding one that kind of meets the quality that I seek only to realize that the taste deteriorates over time. It was probably due to change of chefs as I could tell the presentation on the plate and the quality of ingredients was simply no longer the same.

Changing of chefs is pretty common in the restaurant business considering that every 2 out of 3 restaurants won’t survive after 2 years of operation (if they even last that long).

So, in search for the perfect “Spaghetti”, I’ve once in a while try to achieve a recipe that I hope could blow my mind right out window. I’m still far from that…

Last weekend, myself and Kar Hooi tried another spaghetti dish. “Spaghetti with Simple Tomatoes and Salmon”. The first one we did, it went down our tummy even before I got the camera out.

This is a result of the quality time spent over the weekend and we were both pretty happy with the results. (However, I secretly think that she’ll grow sick of spaghetti before I’m even halfway to reaching the perfect one.. hehe)

Hope you guys like the photo. It’s a no-brainer shot :)

Here are the photos I promised.. :)

I just recently shot an official opening & signing ceremony witnessed by the new Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng and was informed by the Business Director of the company that my photos will be travelling across the region (at least for South East Asia).

His email this morning was truly kind and encouraging to me as a photographer. I’d like to share parts of it with you out there.

Hi Malcolm, I have seen the slide shows and pictures - they are nicely done and am glad that had you to be our photographer for the day.

We plan to send the slide show to CM office, SAP MY and SEA, and Axon HQ.

Thanks for a good job done, appreciate it.

Regards,
Ewe Cheng

Knowing that your work is appreciated is somehow rewarding because I try to shoot a little better in every shoot. Eventually, you get to improve yourself even further and better.

As Louis Pang said “all you need to do is to improve yourself 5% in 1 shoot and in 10 more shoots, you would have been 50% better!”

I will be posting just a few pictures soon. So stay tuned…

P/S: For the record, I’ll put more thoughts on getting more comfortable shoes. I think I used the wrong shoes that day and ended up limping until today. Weird I know!!

Blog stalkers, here you go.. more pictures of Wee Win and Shane’s wedding. ;)

Had a nice break on Monday last week cooking with Kar Hooi after shooting Wee Win & Shane’s wedding. I just didn’t feel like doing anything that “adrenaline-pumping”. We decided to take it real easy and cook something really simple and easy. Those of you out there who know me long enough know I AM a food fanatic. Anyway, we made some potato salad that consists of fresh crab meat, crab sticks, mushrooms + potatoes (obviously:P) with lemon vinegarette dressing.

Was supposed to pass Daniel some but I pulled the plugs on him because I was too tired then by night. Daniel, if you’re reading this.. sorry bro… hehe.. Shall do it for you and Jane the next round :) For now, I hope you enjoy the photos lah! (I think he’s so going to organize a pot luck soon.. haha)

All shots were taken at their new “home-to-be ” and according to Wee Win, she thinks everyone at that place will know her thanks to the photo session.

Just shot their eSession yesterday. We (I’m not sure about them but I certainly did! hehe) had so much fun shooting that I think I might have been a little too psyched up at certain times. Here’s a teaser of the session. Applying pointers shared by Louis Pang himself + a hole tearing investment (I’ll blog about this investment later, it’s not your fault Louis but you did help to contribute some percentage).

Went to check out the music rehearsal for Shane & Wee Win at Trinity Penang in the evening and I’ll share some pictures that show how much work, dedication, effort and time friends put in to help make “The BigDay” a perfect day. Shall let the pictures speak for themselves. My apologies to the rest helping but not in the photo (e.g. planning, deco & so on) :). Here you go…
